Water Damage in Haverhill, MA Art Center
Water damage can be relentless and wreak havoc to the structure and contents of any building. Older buildings are especially vulnerable due to old plumbing, and often times, plaster walls and cracked wood floors. Such was the case when a pipe burst at a beloved art center in the heart of Haverhill, MA. Further complicating the situation was that it occurred during a very cold and very stormy winter.
The source of the damage was on the second floor, so it rushed downward to the first floor, damaging everything in it's path.
We dispatched emergency crews and large commercial equipment to handle the enormity of the job. Due to the age of the building, we approached this as a "dry in place" situation, meaning, rather than cut out the dampened areas, we heated and dried the air while removing humidity to reduce moisture content.
You can see by the image on the left that the standing water was significant. The image on the right shows the equipment in place and the level of drying that was achieved within the first 24 hours.
